Brazell Stadium (Phoenix, AZ)- The Grand Canyon
University Antelopes (14-14) took an early lead on the visiting
Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros (8-19-1) and never looked back,
winning a non-conference baseball game, 6-2.
Trevor Vega hit his first homerun of the season
in the bottom of the first to give the 'Lopes a 1-0 lead. The
'Lopes pushed three more runs across in the third and two more in
the seventh to account for their six runs.
Dominuez Hills scored their only two runs in
the top of the eighth.
Matt Henne had a big night for GCU by going 2-4
with 2 RBI's, including his ninth double of the year.
Brian Broderick (3-2) continued his strong 2007
campaign by pitching seven solid innings and striking out five,
while giving up only two runs.
The Toros out hit the Lopes 11-10 but could not
convert those opportunities into runs.
Jeff Phillips (2-4) took the loss for Dominguez
Hills.
The two teams will square off again tomorrow
for a doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 PM PST at Brazell Stadium. |
