San Francisco, CA The Toros duo of Deborah
Bowser (Long Beach, CA/Cerritos JC) and Grace Fitchett
(Los Angeles, CA/Paramount HS) each took home CCAA titles on
the final day of the 2007 CCAA Track & Field Championships at
San Francisco States Cox Stadium.
After turning in the top qualifying time in the
100-meter dash prelims yesterday, Fitchett turned in a repeat
performance, blazing down the track in a time of 12.11 to capture
the title. Fitchett nearly added another title to her name,
finishing second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.29.
After finishing with the second best time in
yesterdays qualifying heat, Bowser cut nearly four tenths of
a second off her 200-meter time to finish the race in a time of
24.58 to take home the Toros second sprint title of the day.
Bowser also competed in the 100-meter dash, where she finished two
spots behind Fitchett with a time of 12.34 for a third place
finish.
The Toros 4 x 100-meter relay team finished
second, just an eyelash behind UC San Diegos mark of 47.14
with a time of 47.19.
As a team, Cal State Dominguez Hills was
seventh.

The Toros will next compete at the Oxy
Invitational hosted by Occidental College on Saturday, May 12, in
their last meet before the NCAA Outdoor Championships May 24-26 in
Charlotte, NC. |
