Carson, CA -- One week after becoming the only
freshman to earn 1st-team All-California Collegiate Athletic
Association (CCAA) Conference honors, true freshman Katie
Jordan (Huntington Beach, CA/Marina HS) one-upped herself by
becoming the lone freshman named to the Daktronics 1st-team
All-Region team, it was voted on by the West Regions Sports
Information Directors.
Jordan, selected as 1st-team designated player,
emerged as the teams leading hitter, entrenching herself in
the starting line-up and finishing the year with the 3rd-best
batting average in the CCAA at .392. In addition to leading the
Toros in average, hits (49) and runs scored (32), Jordan enjoyed
12 multiple-hit games, including 7 with three hits, and three
multiple-RBI contests. Jordan also boasted a team-high 11-game hit
streak, a .432 slugging and .422 on-base percentage, and reached a
batting average high of .412 as late as April 12.
Humboldt State, which claimed the CCAA
Championship as well as the top seed entering tomorrows
regional tournament, claimed both Pitcher and Player of the year
in Lizzy Prescott and Natalie Galletly as the duo combined to lead
the Lumberjacks to a 54-6 overall record and a No. 3 national
ranking in the schools first year as a member of the CCAA.
