MEDIA ADVISORY: Women’s Resource Center Fall Events
WHAT:
Coming events from the Women’s Resource Center at California State University, Dominguez Hills. The events
are not open to the public, but are open to the media, either for stories on the events themselves or as part
of a larger story.
NOTE:
Arrangements have been made again this year for members of the media to park free on the campus. Go to the
information kiosk on Dominguez Hills Parkway, which parallels East Victoria Street and is east of the Tamcliff
Avenue-Toro Center Drive entrance from East Victoria Street. Present media credentials and a photo ID to receive
a day pass.
EVENT:
Latinas Juntas workshop, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., September 22, Extended Education Building. Latinas Juntas is a
group dedicated to mentoring Latinas and helping them to stay in, and succeed in, the University. It began
because it became clear that Latinas were having more difficulties than some other groups in staying in school
until they had earned their degrees
EVENT:
Movie “Rebellion of the Weeping Women,” noon, Sept. 26, Welch Hall A-410. Part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
This is the story of Mexican women who have fought, and continue to fight, for equality and women’s rights.
They are women looking for children kidnapped during political pogroms, journalists, writers, and political
activists.

building.

Amy Goodman, radio host, “Money Management for Students”; Dr. Waymond Rogers, cognitive psychologist, “How to Spot Sexual Harassment”; and an expert explains online communities, such as MySpace, You-Tube, blogs, and Ebay.
