Margaret Blue Named Dean
of Undergraduate Studies
Carson, CA – California
State University, Dominguez Hills has named Margaret Blue,
Ph.D., dean of Undergraduate Studies effective July 1. She
had been acting dean since August 2006.
Since joining the faculty as a political science professor
in 1988, Dr. Blue has served the university in a variety
of capacities, including executive assistant to the president,
acting director of university relations and director of the
University Advisement Center, as well as chairing a number
of curriculum committees. She also was founding director
of Students Preparing for Academic Rigor and Knowledge (SPARK!),
a pilot program for first-time freshman.
“The campus is fortunate to have someone with Dr.
Blue’s experience and wide-ranging curriculum expertise,” said
Vice Provost Jamie Dote-Kwan.
In her role as dean of Undergraduate
Studies, Dr. Blue will oversee the university’s honors programs, the Graduate
Writing Assessment Requirement, the Center for Learning and
Academic Support Services (CLASS), Service Learning and the
University Advisement Center. She also will chair the newly
formed Student Retention Policy Council, co-chair the Academic
Advisement Council and coordinate the Council on Liberal
Studies and Teacher Education. In addition, Dr. Blue will
continue teaching University 101, part of CSUDH’s First
Year Experience Program.
Dr. Blue is a CSUDH alumna, having
received her bachelor’s
degree in political science in 1981. She holds an M.A. and
Ph.D. in government from Claremont Graduate School.
