Students Dancers Learn Hip-Hop
Basics
During One-Day Master Class
This is a class for students
and employees of the university, but media are invited to
see how, using elements of jazz and other traditional dance,
hip-hop is taught.
WHO: Professional dancer Quami
Adams and the California State University, Dominguez Hills
dance program.
Adams has danced in the touring production
of “Stomp” and
for such notable entertainers as Quincy Jones, Christina
Aguilera and tap dancer/choreographer Savion Glover. A part-time
dance instructor at El Camino College in Torrance, Adams
also choreographs many of that college’s dance concerts.
He currently resides in Hawthorne.
WHAT: Hip-Hop master class
WHEN: TODAY -- Wednesday, October 24, 5:30-7 p.m.
WHERE: CSUDH Gymnasium, Room A-102. www.csudh.edu/site/visitus/maps.asp.
WHY: The CSUDH Dance Program is transitioning to become
a major course of study at the university. Currently it is
only offered as a minor. The master class provides students
with a more diverse offering and, by inviting professional
dancers to work with students, aims to raise the profile
of the dance program.
