Cal State Dominguez Hills to Host
55th Assembly District Candidates Forum

Voters in the 55th Assembly
District will get their first chance to hear from all six
candidates seeking
the seat
in the state legislature during a candidates
forum the morning
of Nov. 15. The event is being hosted by California
State University, Dominguez Hills and the Carson
Chamber of
Commerce.
The 55th Assembly District
seat became vacant in August when then-representative Laura
Richardson
won her bid
to represent
the 37th Congressional District in the U.S.
House of Representatives. A special primary election is scheduled
for
Dec. 11. A general election will take place Feb. 5, 2008.
Vying to represent the cities
of Carson, Torrance, Harbor City, Wilmington, Long Beach,
Lakewood
and Signal Hill
in the state Assembly are Los Angeles Community
College Board
of Trustee Warren Furutani, management consultant
Mervin Leon Evans, Carson City Councilman
Mike Gipson, Long
Beach businesswoman Evelyn D. Robertson,
retired aerospace engineer
Herb Peters, and Long Beach resident and
nurse Charlotte Sadiyah Gibson.
During the forum, the candidates
will field questions from members of the audience, who
as they arrive
will be handed
comment cards on which to submit their
questions. A continental breakfast will be served at
the forum and
parking will
be free in Lot 3.
The Claudia Hampton Lecture
Hall is on the ground floor of Welch Hall, which is
located
on the
campus of CSU
Dominguez Hills at Toro Center/Tamcliff
Drive and Victoria Street.
Parking Lot 3 is adjacent to Welch Hall.
