CSUDH Army ROTC to Hold Commissioning Ceremony May 22
Carson, CA – Three cadets in the California State University, Dominguez Hills Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Department will be recognized during the Spring 2007 Commissioning Ceremony this Tuesday, May 22.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the campus Sculpture Garden. Brigadier General John Harrel, assistant commander of the California Army National Guard’s 40th Infantry Division, will be the guest speaker. A reception with refreshments will follow the ceremony. The event is open to the public and all faculty, staff and students are invited.
Those cadets being honored are Cadets Alan Leutele, Enrique Monreal and Sally Ramirez.
Cadet Leutele recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in public administration and will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army.
Cadet Monreal recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the California Army National Guard at the end of his summer training at Fort Lewis, Wash.
Cadet Ramirez recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communication. She too will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army at the end of her summer training at Fort Lewis.
Students participating in the program take ROTC courses while working on a bachelor’s or graduate degree. Upon graduation from college and completion of ROTC, the cadet is commissioned as a second lieutenant—a leader and manager—in the United States Army, either full-time, on active duty, or part-time, or in the National Guard or Army Reserve.
The CSUDH Army ROTC Program is partnered with the Army ROTC Programs at the University of Southern California and California State University, Long Beach.
