FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Auditions Feb. 4 and 5 for CSU
Dominguez Hills
Production of “Lysistrata”
(Carson,
CA) – The California
State University, Dominguez Hills Department of Theatre Arts is
holding auditions on Feb. 4 and 5 for its final play of the 2007-2008
season, the classic Greek comedy by Aristphanes, “Lysistrata.” Open
to all members of the community of all ethnicities and ages, the
auditions will take place beginning at 7 p.m. both days in the
University Theatre.
Possibly the boldest antiwar play ever
written, “Lysistrata” tells
the story of women in ancient Athens and Sparta who join together
to withhold their “offerings” to their men until they
stop the senseless war. The message of the play extends far beyond
the 5th century B.C.: make love, not war! The CSUDH Department
of Theatre version, set in more modern times, will be staged April
18-27.
The production will be directed by visiting professor of theatre
arts Marla Gam-Hudson, who has more than 30 years in the theater
profession as an actress, director and acting coach. Currently
she teaches in the theater departments at Long Beach City College,
California State University Dominguez Hills and Fullerton, and
the Orange County High School of the Arts, and is also involved
with the Huntington Beach Playhouse and the Orange Curtain Theatre.
