Motion Graphics Exhibit at University
Art Gallery
Los Angeles Design in
Motion: Graphics in Film and Television March 26 – April 24
(The art gallery will be closed from March 31 – April
4 for Spring break).
Opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m., March 26 in the University
Art Gallery
A panel discussion, Motion Graphics in Los Angeles, featuring
the participating designers will be held during the opening
reception at 6 p.m.

(Carson, CA)— Los
Angeles Design in Motion, curated by Michele Allan, chair,
Art Department, and Bernard Baker, professor of art, in conjunction
with the Digital Media Arts programs at California State
University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), will open at the CSUDH
University Art Gallery on March 26 and continue through April
24. The exhibit will feature motion graphics created by six
Los Angeles-based design companies for music videos and television,
including BeliefDesign, Blind, Colourmovie, Exopolis, Fuel,
and Twothousandstrong.
On display in a uniquely designed
environment with brilliant colors and unusual graphics
will be innovative motion graphics
projects shown on flat-screen DVD players in a mix of independent
and commercial themes; selected large-scale digital print
stills from the projects; and storyboards or concept sketches
of the projects to show the creative process behind the idea.
Highlights include a unique pre-visualization animation clip
of the L.A. Zoo ad for the white alligator by Colourmovie;
glowing turquoise stills from Justin Timberlake’s music
video Lovestoned by Blind; and a striking iPod ad by Exopolis
featuring a dancer painting with light.
The opening reception for Los Angeles
Design in Motion will take place on Wednesday, March 26,
from 5 to 7 p.m. in the
University Art Gallery. In conjunction with the opening,
a panel discussion with the participating designers will
be held in the gallery at 6 p.m.
Admission to the gallery
and related events is free. The gallery is open 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday,
and is in La Corte Hall A-107.
CSU Dominguez Hills is located
at 1000 E. Victoria St. in Carson, near the junction
of the Harbor, Artesia and
San
Diego freeways. Visitor parking permits may be purchased
for $3 at the yellow dispensing machines at the front
of each campus lot.

the University Art Gallery -- The University
Art Gallery opened in 1978 and is considered one
of the major
exhibition spaces in the South Bay. The gallery
supports and enhances the Art Department's instructional
program while giving students from all disciplines and
interested community members a valuable opportunity to
explore and experience contemporary and historical works
of art from many cultures. The gallery has over 2,000
square feet of exhibition space and 18' high ceilings,
and it can accommodate large-scale paintings and sculptures
by artists of local and national reputation. There are
five exhibitions a year, the last being a multimedia
show of works by graduating seniors in the Art Department.
