(Carson, CA)— Los Angeles Design in Motion, curated by Michele Allan, chair, Art Department, and Bernard Baker, professor of art, in conjunction with the Digital Media Arts programs at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), will open at the CSUDH University Art Gallery on March 26 and continue through April 24. The exhibit will feature motion graphics created by six Los Angeles-based design companies for music videos and television, including BeliefDesign, Blind, Colourmovie, Exopolis, Fuel, and Twothousandstrong.

On display in a uniquely designed environment with brilliant colors and unusual graphics will be innovative motion graphics projects shown on flat-screen DVD players in a mix of independent and commercial themes; selected large-scale digital print stills from the projects; and storyboards or concept sketches of the projects to show the creative process behind the idea. Highlights include a unique pre-visualization animation clip of the L.A. Zoo ad for the white alligator by Colourmovie; glowing turquoise stills from Justin Timberlake’s music video Lovestoned by Blind; and a striking iPod ad by Exopolis featuring a dancer painting with light.

The opening reception for Los Angeles Design in Motion will take place on Wednesday, March 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the University Art Gallery. In conjunction with the opening, a panel discussion with the participating designers will be held in the gallery at 6 p.m.

Admission to the gallery and related events is free. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and is in La Corte Hall A-107.

CSU Dominguez Hills is located at 1000 E. Victoria St. in Carson, near the junction of the Harbor, Artesia and San Diego freeways. Visitor parking permits may be purchased for $3 at the yellow dispensing machines at the front of each campus lot.
