CSU Dominguez Hills Child Development Center Participates in State Department of Education Food Program

(Carson, CA) –The Child Development Center at California State University, Dominguez Hills participates in the California Department of Education's Child and Adult Care Food Program.

The Child and Adult Care Food Program, which is state and federally funded, gives financial assistance to licensed child care centers and day care facilities to provide children 13 years of age and younger with nutritious, well-balanced meals that help improve their diets and promote lifelong good eating habits. Through the program, the center provides breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack to enrolled children at no additional cost. The center has implemented the program for 20 years.

The Child Development Center at CSU Dominguez Hills provides affordable, quality child care and developmental services for the children of the university’s students, faculty and staff, and space dependent, the community. Children enrolled in the center interact and learn in a family-grouped environment with a team of trained teachers, assistant teachers and volunteers. The center falls under the administration of Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) and the School of Education. Enrollment is limited to children between 2.9 and 10 years of age who are toilet-trained and in good health.

Students of CSU Dominguez Hills have priority in terms of enrollment of their children and are eligible for full or partial subsidy to help with fees. Faculty and staff are next in priority, with services available at a discounted rate. Local community members are charged the full fee. Part-time or full-time care is available with flexible scheduling. Fees vary based on the number of hours a child is enrolled each day, and discounts are available if more than one child from a family is enrolled at the center.

As an adjunct facility of the university, the Child Development Center serves as an on-campus site for research, fieldwork, observation, participation and other instructional and academically related experiences for CSU Dominguez Hills students.
