CSU Dominguez Hills & LBCC Sign “Pathways to Success Pledge”
Agreement offers transfer guarantee and support for LBCC students

(Long Beach, CA) – California State University, Dominguez Hills President Mildred García and Long Beach City College (LBCC) President Eloy Ortiz Oakley have signed a “Pathways to Success Pledge,” marking a new partnership between the institutions to increase transfer success and bachelor’s degree attainment for LBCC students.

“Through Pathways to Success, California State University, Dominguez Hills and Long Beach City College pledge to build more than a path to a college degree but a solid future for our students and, in many ways, the entire state, ” García said. “California depends on a diverse educated workforce, and through this partnership we aim to ensure that students complete their college degree and become the successful leaders of tomorrow who meet the needs of the state and nation.”

“The new Pathways to Success Pledge will help more LBCC students transfer and earn bachelor’s degrees,” Oakley said. “I thank President García for her leadership in helping to create clear pathways for our students to careers in high need, high wage industries and professions.”

In signing the pledge, the two leaders guarantee that all LBCC students who successfully complete the required courses for transfer to the CSU will be admitted to CSU Dominguez Hills. They also promise that their institutions will assist students in reaching that goal through clear academic and career advising and assistance with financial aid and scholarship opportunities. In addition, LBCC students will be offered dual enrollment at CSU Dominguez Hills as part of the pledge.
