Ryoko Onishi: Returning to Babel

Tokyo native Ryoko Onishi knows a thing or two about breaking through barriers of culture, ethnicity, and even language. After graduating from California State University, Dominguez Hills last year with a master’s degree in English, with an emphasis on Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). Last February, the Tokyo native was hired at Los Angeles Trade Technical College to teach English to non-native speakers, mainly those of Latino descent.
