Michael Rouse: CSU Dominguez Hills Foundation Names Toyota Executive to its Board

Michael Rouse, vice president of philanthropy and community affairs at Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. has been named to board of directors of the California State University, Dominguez Hills Foundation.

“We are fortunate to have the involvement of alumni and local business leaders like Mr. Rouse on the CSU Dominguez Hills Foundation Board,” said university president Mildred García. “By serving his alma mater in this way he will be helping the university prepare our diverse student body to become the knowledgeable, skilled leaders of tomorrow and through their success, ensure the region’s economic viability.”

In his position at TMS U.S.A., Inc., Rouse is responsible for community relations, internal and executive communications, social media, department strategy and long-range planning, as well as corporate philanthropy, including the company’s two national education programs, TAPESTRY and Toyota International Teacher. Rouse has been with Toyota since 1981, during which time he has overseen such areas as product planning, market research, communications planning, and product public relations.

Rouse is an alumnus of the CSU Dominguez Hills College of Business Administration and Public Policy MBA program. He has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles and a teaching credential from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining the corporate world, he was an elementary school teacher.

“Serving on the board of the CSU Dominguez Hills Foundation is, for me, going full circle,” Rouse said. “My MBA from Cal State Dominguez prepared me well for a long and rewarding career at Toyota. It's now time to give back to this great institution.”

In addition to the CSU Dominguez Hills Foundation, the Rancho Palos Verdes resident currently serves on the boards of the California Science Center Foundation, the Torrance Cultural Arts Center Foundation, the Torrance Memorial Medical Center Foundation, Stop Cancer, the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce; the advisory boards of the Torrance Education Foundation and Manhattan Beach Education Foundation; and the executive leadership team of the American Heart Association.
