Home Depot Center Expansion Gets CSU Trustees’ OK

Two important hurdles were cleared on Feb. 1, when the California State University Board of Trustees gave final approval to the Phase II expansion of the Home Depot Center on the CSUDH campus, for the $55 million building program that includes a 60,000-square-foot athletics training center and office complex, a 50,000-square-foot field house and training center, a 240-bed athletic residential facility, and a 200-room hotel, all of which could generate annual revenues of $450,000 for the University.

Andre Agassi: Local Students Get Grand Slam from Tennis Champion

The Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation and the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce announced a partnership last December with the California Academy of Mathematics and Sciences (CAMS) and the Home Depot Center, both of which are located on the CSUDH campus. The partnership will collaborate on a tennis-and-scholastics program for at-risk youth, beginning in spring 2006.

By Any Means: National Drawing Exhibit to Open at
University Gallery Feb. 8

“By Any Means: Works from the National Drawing Invitationals,” will open on Feb. 8 and continue through March 8, at the University Art Gallery. Kathy Zimmerer, Gallery director, says that the exhibit “demonstrates that contemporary drawing maintains its vitality through continuous reinvention of the form.
