Jerry Moore: NSF Awards $191,000 Grant for Undergraduate Research in Peru

After five years of trying, professor of anthropology Jerry Moore has received a $191,000 grant from the National Science Foundation Archaeology Program for research in northern Peru. When asked what worked in acquiring the grant this time, he laughs, “Sheer persistence. Over the last
five years, the competition for these funds has become absolutely fierce. In this last round, 67 proposals were submitted.
Ten will be funded.”

Franklin Strier: Business Ethics and Corporate Governance
Inspire Research

Franklin Strier, professor of accounting and finance, had his article, "Conflicts of Interest in Corporate Governance," published in the December issue of The Journal of Corporate Citizenship. The piece dealt with the ways in which conflicts of interest lead to lapses in business ethics and underscores the work Strier completed last semester in establishing a Web-based Center for the Study of Corporate Governance and Business Ethics.
