Kei Kamara: An Athlete's Journey

It’s a long way from a dirt soccer field in a war-torn west-African nation to the perfect turf of a Major League Soccer stadium in the United States. Geographically, they’re on opposite sides of the world; experientially,
they’re separate universes. Recently, sophomore Kei Kamara bridged that distance, when the Columbus Crew made him the ninth pick overall in the MLS SuperDraft and the first person from the tiny nation of Sierra Leone to reach the top echelon of American soccer.

David Gamboa (Class of '05, B.A., Communications), field representative for Congresswoman Juanita Millender-McDonald (CA-37th District), awards her recognition to Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) for their efforts toward the victims of Hurricane Katrina at the ASI Senate Meeting on Feb. 3. CSUDH was recognized on the floor of Congress for their participation in the largest relief project in the South Bay.
