Day With Dominguez: Long Beach City College Gets the Toro Touch

On March 7, members of the Outreach and Recruitment Task Force visited Long Beach City College to recruit transfer students with
“Day with Dominguez: Come and Explore the Opportunities.” Jamie Dote-Kwan,
vice provost, Academic Affairs, describes the event as “a presence at our major feeding community colleges. It provides an opportunity to meet and talk to hundreds of potential students.”

Primavera Music Series:
Visiting Artists Strike Chord
of Diversity

Chicano/Latino music may be associated with a Spanish guitar plucked alongside the skipping notes of an accordion, but as many students have found out this semester through the Primavera Music Series, the genre runs much deeper than that. Chicana/Chicano Studies and the Music Department has secured top artists such as Mark Ramos Nishita, who made his name while working with the Beastie Boys, and Marcos Loya, a musician and composer for theater and movies, to not only share their music, but the life experiences that forged such works.

“Sex Signals”: National Campus Hit Educates Students on Harassment and Date Rape
By bringing the Catharsis Productions program, “Sex Signals” to campus on March 21, junior Lisette Sepulveda (at right) and coordinator of Student Life Asucena Cervantes hope to educate students on a sobering aspect of campus social life: date rape.
