Nancy Cheever: Study of Cyber Dating Reveals New Battle of
the Sexes

Nancy Cheever, assistant professor of communications, presented her findings on
"Matchmaking in Cyberspace: Single Women’s Use of Online Dating Services,” at the 2006 Convention of the Western Psychological Association in Palm Springs on April 28. Her examination of attitudes toward online dating revealed that, despite the mainstream popularity of online dating, most women relied on traditional dating methods.

Lois Feuer: Spreading the “Word” on Dystopian Societies
Lois Feuer, professor of English and humanities, was one of three panelists on a recent segment of the Modern Language Association’s public radio program, “What’s the Word?” which features faculty members from American universities discussing issues in language and literature.

	Robert Hooper: Fulbright Specialist to Train Lao Media
	Robert Hooper, professor of negotiation, conflict resolution and peace building, will participate in the Fulbright Senior Specialist Program at the National University of Laos, in Vientiane, Laos, from June 1 to July 15. He will be working with the university’s administration to finalize curriculum and course content for a new program in mass communications to be launched this fall.

Franklin Strier: CPAs Due For Image Overhaul
Franklin Strier, professor of accounting, had his article, “Proposals to Improve the Image of the Public Accounting Profession,” published in the March issue of The CPA Journal. He cites the impact on investor confidence as the main reason to salvage the industry’s image.
