Don Manning: Skin Deep

Many on campus are familiar with the sight of senior Don Manning making his rounds on campus, head held high, feet in a blur. He may be gathering signatures for a contract as the Multicultural Center’s contracts and procurement coordinator. He may be on his way to an Associated Students, Inc. meeting, where he serves as the upper division representative. He may be about to participate in an activity with Espiritu Nuestro de Futuro. Or, sometimes, he may just be on the way to class.

Montreece Payton:
No Road Not Taken

As a graduate of the California Academy of Mathematics and Sciences on the CSU Dominguez Hills campus, senior
Montreece Payton transitioned from high school to college on the same campus. “Being at CSUDH afforded me many opportunities I don't feel I would have had at other schools,” says the McNair Scholar. Along with her experiences as a member of the service learning project JusticeCorps and Gamma Phi Delta, Payton has taken on the office of president of Beta Lambda Kappa, the Black Honors Society, working, often alone, to establish her chapter’s presence on campus.

Strength in Numbers

The mighty Toros started the 2005-2006 school year without the inspiration of a cheer squad. Ambitious former members were motivated to reactivate the squad, so they stepped up and through hard work and new beginnings,took the challenge of continuing the team that no longer existed.
