The California State University Board of Trustees Chair Roberta Achtenberg named the members of the Trustees’ Selection Committee to conduct the search for a new president of the CSU Dominguez Hills campus to succeed retiring President James E. Lyons Sr. Lyons, who has served as president of Dominguez Hills since 1999, recently announced his plans to retire from the university at the end of the academic year.

Two collaborations between local schools and CSU Dominguez Hills College of Education (COE) faculty build bridges for young students, giving elementary schoolchildren their first glimpse of a college campus, and teaching adolescent students how to cope with the pressures of the inner city.

June Burlingame Smith describes the Greg Smith Memorial Garden as her late husband’s idea, for the Dominguez Hills community to have “a place where they can enjoy quiet contemplation and appreciate nature.” The CSUDH professor of geography from 1968 to 1992, championed environmental causes in his community of San Pedro and throughout Los Angeles County.
