Out of Africa: Dominguez Hills Students Visit the Motherland

For many African American students, the idea of Africa is an almost abstract mystery, its existence practically overlooked in their early years of education. This summer, senior Pernell Jones (Health Services) and senior Gayleah Richmond (Human Services) had the chance to learn more about their cultural origins by way of educational and service opportunities that gave them an experience above and beyond their original purpose.

CSUDH Students Attend National Conference for Minority Scientists

CSU Dominguez Hills students from throughout the sciences attended the annual conference of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) was held in Tampa, FL, in October. The conference is designed to provide resources for minority students who are pursing advanced degrees in the sciences, offering career advancement workshops, scientific symposia, exhibitors, student presentations and contact with noted
scientists.
