| Jose Solache Named President of Lynwood School Board
Jose Solache (Class of ‘06, B.A., Liberal Arts/Spanish) was recently appointed president of the Lynwood Unified School District (LUSD) Board of Education. The former Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) president (2001-03) served two terms on the CSU Dominguez Hills campus before being elected to the LUSD board in 2003, becoming the youngest Latino member to serve. Since then, he has also held the positions of the Board’s clerk and vice president.
In his acceptance speech, Solache defined the spirit of his presidency as a focus on customer service, challenging LUSD staff to better meet the needs of students, parents and the community.
Solache states that, “the future of Lynwood Unified School District is bright. We need to build on the success of the new school openings and gains in the elementary test scores that have been made.”
