Millenium Momentum Foundation Honors CSU Dominguez Hills with Ambassador of Education Award

California State University, Dominguez Hills was honored at the Millenium Momentum Foundation’s 3rd Annual Opening Doors Scholarship Awards with the Ambassador of Education Award, on December 12, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. President James E. Lyons, Sr. received the award on behalf of the University.

CSU Dominguez Hills Advertising Class Designs Campaign for Alum Who Needs a Bone Marrow Transplant

When Chris Russo, lecturer, communications, came up with the final project for his Advertising class, he was hoped to bring more to the drawing board than just another ad campaign for a material world. After reading a story about alum Jerome Williams in the CSUDH student newspaper, he was inspired to take the lesson to another level, and have his students design a campaign for a cause: Williams, who is in the accelerated stages of leukemia has been given three months to live and is searching for a compatible bone marrow donor.

Committee Named to Search for New Dominguez Hills President

The California State University Board of Trustees Chair Roberta Achtenberg named the members of the Trustees’ Selection Committee to conduct the search for a new president of the CSU Dominguez Hills campus to succeed retiring President James E. Lyons Sr. Lyons, who has served as president of Dominguez Hills since 1999, recently announced his plans to retire from the university at the end of the academic year.

Two collaborations between local schools and CSU Dominguez Hills College of Education (COE) faculty build bridges for young students, giving elementary schoolchildren their first glimpse of a college campus, and teaching adolescent students how to cope with the pressures of the inner city.
