“The Little College on a Hill” Opens Nov. 9

"The Little College on a Hill" opens Friday, Nov. 9, for a two-weekend run. “The Little College on a Hill” is the result of the Dominguez Bridge Project, an ambitious undertaking to interview Cal State Dominguez Hills graduates, faculty, staff and students from the past 40-plus years of the university’s history. CSUDH alumnae Brenda Killian and Naomi Buckley used details culled from those interviews to write the play.

Dominguez Hills' First Visiting Distinguished Scholar to Speak on Antarctica on Nov. 13

A poet, author, explorer, cultural geographer and scholar, William L. Fox is a Renaissance man who integrates literary and scientific interests into his works. On Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Loker Student Union, Fox will present a lecture on his 2005 book, Terra Antarctica, in which he traces human’s visual history of the southernmost point on Earth and recounts his own experiences there to explore the notion of cognitive landscape.

Highly Regarded Expert in Higher Education to Speak at Cal State Dominguez Hills

Alexander Astin, professor emeritus of education and founding director of the Higher Education Research Institute at University of California, Los Angeles, will be at California State University, Dominguez Hills on Wednesday, Nov. 14 to talk about his more than 40 years of experience in the field of higher education. The event is open to the public and will take place in the Extended Education Center.

Alumni to Exhibit Works at University Art Gallery
"Diverse Visions," an invitational exhibition featuring 60 works of art in varied media by 15 Art Department alumni will open on Nov. 14 and continue through Dec. 5 at the California State University, Dominguez Hills University Art Gallery.

	During a welcome reception at the Carson Community Center on Oct. 17, Carson Mayor Jim Dear and fellow council members presented President Mildred García with the key to the city in recognition of her recent appointment as the seventh president of California State University, Dominguez Hills.

CNBS Kicks Off Distinguished Speakers Series with President and CEO of LA BioMed

Kenneth P. Trevett, J.D., president and CEO of the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, kicked off the College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences (CNBS) inaugural Distinguished Speakers Series Luncheon on Oct. 12 at the Loker Student Union on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills. The series was established to highlight the contributions of the university to the the natural and behavioral sciences in the Southern California region.
