	Latinas Juntas: Annual Event Provides Peer Support and Mentorship for Latina Students
	The 5th annual Latinas Juntas event, presented by the Office of Student Development, was held on Nov. 9 in the Loker Student Union at California State University, Dominguez Hills. The brainchild of psychologists Dr. Denna Sanchez and Dr. Monica Rosas-Baines, the day-long conference provides support and empowerment to Latina students through conversations with mentors and role models.

College of Health and Human Services Helps Grant Wishes for Local Foster Children
The College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Dominguez Hills has once again organized its Holiday Wish Drive for Masada Homes. The three-year-old tradition, led by Heidi Johannsen, special assistant to the deans, makes wishes come true for the children and teens served by the nearby nonprofit foster placement and adoption agency located in Carson.

Marcos Loya: Chicana/o Studies Lecturer and Artist Celebrates Hope in “La Posada Magíca”

In addition to preparing final exams and tallying grades in December, lecturer Marcos Loya is performing in “La Posada Mágica,” the longest- running Latino-themed Christmas play in the United States. Loya was commissioned to compose the score for the 14-year-old tradition, which is performed at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa in front of an exponentially growing audience of Latinos and non-Latinos.

Graphic and Visual Arts Students Have Designs on the Class Schedule
The work of two graphic design students at California State University, Dominguez Hills has been chosen to grace the publication of a discerning client – the university itself. Ernest Tulabut and Omar Ocampo, students in Michele Allan’s conceptualization class this fall, designed the cover artwork for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 class schedules.
