Gus Martin: Definitive Text on Terrorism Gets Update

Essentials of Terrorism: Concepts and Controversies was published in November,
the third book on terrorism by Gus Martin, assistant vice president for Faculty Affairs. The follow-up to his book Understanding Terrorism: Challenges, Perspectives, and Issues, Second Edition (2006), the text includes new and updated material on media coverage of terrorism related ethical issues, religious terrorism, and gender-selective terrorism.

Jerry Moore: Anthropologist Co-Edits Seminal Work on Prehistory of Baja California

The Prehistory of Baja California: Advances in the Archaeology of the Forgotten Peninsula, edited by archaeologist Don Laylander and CSU Dominguez Hills professor of anthropology Jerry Moore, has been designated an “Outstanding Academic Title for 2007 by Choice, the publication of the American Library Association.

Larry Rosen: Professor Publishes Book on Parenting the Net Generation

Larry Rosen, professor of psychology, has authored a book that examines the effects of technology on the social development of today’s children, including the emergence of MySpace, the omnipresent use of cell phones and text messaging, and teenagers’ ability to multitask with all these technologies. Instead of focusing on the “moral panic” concerning predators and other negative aspects of social networking, “Me, MySpace, and I” takes a uniquely positive view of teen technology use and offers concrete tips for parents on successfully raising their technologically sophisticated pre-teens and adolescents.
