Dominguez Heritage Project: What’s In a Name

Since the Loker Student Union reopened in 2007 after a two-year expansion project, the Dominguez Ballroom has provided a hospitable venue for events both large and small, for participants from the California State University, Dominguez Hills campus community and beyond. As part of the weeklong festivities leading up to the Inauguration of Dr. Mildred García, guests revisited an earlier time, when the Dominguez Hills region originally played host to important events in early Los Angeles history, at the "unveiling" of the Dominguez Heritage Project.

Dr. Mildred García will be inaugurated as the seventh president of California State University, Dominguez Hills on Friday, May 2, preceeded by a weeklong celebration of the achievements and traditions of one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse in the western United States.

Lois Feuer: Shakespearean Scholar Publishes New Essay on “Macbeth”

Professor of English Lois Feuer contributed an essay, “Hired for Mischief: the Masterless Man in ‘Macbeth,’” to a new collection of critical essays on Shakespeare’s tragedy. Published in March by Routledge, the anthology Macbeth: New Critical Essays is aimed at upper division students.

Thomas Landefeld: Stemming the Tide of Minority Health Disparities

Professor of biology Thomas Landefeld presented three workshops titled “What Your
Mother Didn’t Tell You About Applying to Biology and Biomedical Research Programs”
at the 22nd Annual Meeting of the Association of Minority Health Professional Schools in New Orleans last March. The conference provides minority high school students from across the country with information on careers in the health professions.

Scott Morris: Distinguished Classical Guitarist to Play at Inaugural Event for President García

Dr. Scott Morris, a renowned guitarist and the director of classical guitar studies at California State University, Dominguez Hills, will perform at an inauguration reception for CSUDH President Mildred García today, Thursday, May 1. Since his 1998 debut at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York, Morris has achieved much in his career and continues to have a promising future.
