Korla Collins: African Dancer Achieves Her Dreams Step by Step

When Korla Collins marches into the Home Depot Center stadium with her fellow
graduates at the California State University, Dominguez Hills Undergraduate Commencement, she will be looking forward to the next step in the choreography of her future. Her double major in dance and Africana studies has led her to becoming a working African dancer and instructor, as well as having given her a vision for giving back to her community.

Susan Irby: Online Nursing Student Finds Her Own Road to Recovery

Susan Irby, an online student in the Master of Science in Nursing program at California
State University, Dominguez Hills, had to take a leave of absence from her studies for
more than a year in order to recover from a serious car accident that left her unable to
walk or speak. This spring, she will graduate with a focus on nursing administration,
thanks to a support system that included her family and her professors, who helped her with an environment of healing as she pursued her career in the healing arts.

Don Manning: Graduating Senior Sets His Sights on Top Rung of Corporate Ladder

While many of the Class of 2008 at California State University, Dominguez Hills are preparing to pound the proverbial pavement and look for a job, Don Manning already has in mind exactly what he wants: chief executive officer of Macy’s Inc. As a group sales manager, he is responsible for a portion of his store ’s $43 million annual profit and has prepared for his climb up the corporate ladder with internships within the that have exposed him to every level of its management.

Heather Roach: All That's Fit to Print
When CSU Dominguez Hills student Heather Roach saw her byline on her first published article, she was initially disappointed that it didn't appear in a printed publication. Realizing she was born too late for that, the communications major looks forward to an internship at Fox 11 and a freelance feature writing career after graduating this spring with honors.

	Perla Villegas: Diverse City
	On graduation day, the class of 2008 at California State University, Dominguez Hills, will march off the field, diplomas in hand and ready to take on the world. Perla Villegas, who is graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s in communications and marketing, has already had a taste of taking on the world – in her own backyard of multicultural Los Angeles.

Graduate Students Take Home Awards at System-wide CSU Student Research Competition

Two graduate students from California State University, Dominguez Hills were winners at the 22nd annual system-wide CSU Student Research Competition held this month at CSU East Bay. Giancarlo Bonora was named outstanding presenter in the biology-graduate division’s first session for his presentation of a study that could have implications in the fight against breast cancer and Chaka Dodson was named runner-up in her session in the graduate-psychology division for research she did on neuro-cognitive dysfunction in HIV-positive men.

His minor in labor studies has led him to also work with organizations including the Teamsters union and cover events on campus such as a reading and booksigning by Chicano author Luis Rodriguez.
