Korla Collins: African Dancer Achieves Her Dreams Step by Step

When Korla Collins marched into the Home Depot Center stadium with her fellow
graduates at the California State University, Dominguez Hills Undergraduate Commencement, she will be looking forward to the next step in the choreography of her future. Her double major in dance and Africana studies has led her to becoming a working African dancer and instructor, as well as having given her a vision for giving back to her community.

Susan Irby: Online Nursing Student Finds Her Own Road to Recovery

Susan Irby, an online student in the Master of Science in Nursing program at California
State University, Dominguez Hills, had to take a leave of absence from her studies for
more than a year in order to recover from a serious car accident that left her unable to
walk or speak. This spring, she will graduate with a focus on nursing administration,
thanks to a support system that included her family and her professors, who helped her with an environment of healing as she pursued her career in the healing arts.

Don Manning: Graduating Senior Sets His Sights on Top Rung of Corporate Ladder

While many of the Class of 2008 at California State University, Dominguez Hills are preparing to pound the proverbial pavement and look for a job, Don Manning already has in mind exactly what he wants: chief executive officer of Macy’s Inc. As a group sales manager, he is responsible for a portion of his store ’s $43 million annual profit and has prepared for his climb up the corporate ladder with internships that have exposed him to every level of its management.

Heather Roach: All That's Fit to Print

When CSU Dominguez Hills student Heather Roach saw her byline on her first published
article, she was initially disappointed that it didn't appear in a printed publication.
Realizing she was born too late for that, the communications major looks forward to an
internship at Fox 11 and a freelance feature writing career after graduating this spring
with honors.

Perla Villegas: Diverse City

On graduation day, the class of 2008 at California State University, Dominguez Hills,
marched off the field, diplomas in hand and ready to take on the world. Perla Villegas,
who graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s in communications and marketing, has already had a taste of taking on the world – in her own backyard of multicultural Los Angeles.
