Susan Borrego: CSU Dominguez Hills Announces New Vice President for Planning and Enrollment Management

Mildred García, president of California State University, Dominguez Hills, has announced the selection of Susan Borrego as the university’s first vice president for planning and enrollment management. Borrego is currently vice president for student affairs at CSU Monterey Bay, where she has been since 2005. Under Borrego’s leadership as vice president for student affairs, CSU Monterey Bay experienced a 44 percent increase in freshmen enrollment and overall enrollment increased by 32 percent.

Jeremy Buraglia: Iraq Veteran Named First Mr. California USA

Jeremy Buraglia may have survived a 15-month deployment to Iraq, but the sergeant in the Army Reserve had a slight case of cold feet when hitting the stage at the first-ever Mr. California USA Pageant on May 17 in Long Beach. The criminal justice major talks about keeping up with his studies while on active duty, the encouragement of both of his grandmothers, and being a role model and encouraging all youth to follow their dreams.

Student Health Center Earns Reaccreditation From National Association
The Student Health Center at California State University, Dominguez Hills, has been reaccredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The center, which has been given the maximum accreditation for three years, was reviewed on 20 core standards, including quality of care provided, quality management and improvement, clinical records, and patients’ rights.

Action Research: College of Education Students Present Lessons From the Classroom

California State University, Dominguez Hills graduate education students working on their master’s degree with an option curriculum presented their on-the-job findings at an Action Research Poster Presentation in April in the Loker Student Union. For this capstone project, the students, veteran K-12 teachers with a range of job experience, focused on creative enhancement of best practices, using methods ranging from conceptual maps and evidence-based research to the arts and physical activity.
