Campus Tour of CSU Dominguez Hills Added to Web-based YOUniversityTV

In March, a crew from YOUniversityTV, an online clearinghouse that provides virtual campus tours for students deciding what college they want to attend, spent an entire day at California State University, Dominguez Hills. The result is a video tour that highlights the Carson campus.

Enola Thompson-Logan, support services administrator for the Student Health and Psychological Services Center at California State University, Dominguez Hills was recently awarded the title of Distinguished Toastmaster, the highest honor within Toastmasters International. As the vice president of public affairs for the Dominguez
Hills Speaks Toastmasters chapter on campus, she encourages students, faculty, staff, and the local community to explore the professional and personal development that the organization affords its members.

Jack Patterson: Meaning and Memory

In a small room behind the exhibits in the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum, intern Jack Patterson (Class of ’07, B.A., anthropology) is busily cataloging books, photographs, paintings, and other artifacts belonging to the family that lends its name to California State University, Dominguez Hills. Looking to pursuing his master’s degree in museum studies with aspirations of one day becoming a museum curator, Patterson is gaining experience in the field by helping to share local history.

Katherine B. Loker
In Memoriam: Katherine B. Loker (1915-2008)

Katherine B. Loker, a longtime friend to California State University, Dominguez Hills who gave generously of her time and money, died at her Oceanside home on June 26 at 92. Loker, along with her husband, was a key advisor to CSU Dominguez Hills when its permanent home was being selected in the 1960s, and she continued to be a staunch supporter of the university until her death.

CSU Dominguez Hills' Accreditation Reaffirmed Through 2018

The accreditation of California State University, Dominguez Hills has been strongly reaffirmed by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), university president Dr. Mildred García informed the campus earlier this week. Tasked with evaluating the effectiveness and quality of public and private schools in the western United States, WASC conferred its highest accreditation appraisal to CSU Dominguez Hills by granting a 10-year reaffirmation, with an interim report due in five years.

52 Toros Athletes Make Honor Roll
Fifty-Two Toros Earn CSUDH Athletics’ Spring 2008 Honor Roll Recognition

Cal State Dominguez Hills women’s soccer’s Sandy Lloyd concluded her academic legacy by earning another perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring semester, and was joined by teammate Alyssa Congdon, volleyball’s Tiffany Bull and women’s basketball’s Barbara Houston atop the GPA board as the quartet led a contingent of 52 CSUDH student-athletes who earned at least a 3.0 GPA during the spring 2008 semester.
