Election Day at CSUDH: Polling Place Brings Democratic Process to Campus


On Nov. 4, California State University, Dominguez Hills participated in the presidential election by providing a regional polling place in the College of Extended and International Education auditorium. Approximately 700 members of the campus and local community cast their ballots at the site with the help of student volunteers and volunteers from the Los Angeles County Registrar’s office. CSUDH students accounted for 426 of those voters.

Verizon Gift of $50,000 Supports EOP and Evening at Dominguez
Verizon Gift: $50,000 Benefits Outreach and EOP

On Nov. 3, Verizon presented a check for $50,000 to the Evening at Dominguez program conducted by the office of Outreach and Information Services and the Educational Opportunity Program at California State University, Dominguez Hills. The programs, which are tailored toward the needs of first-generation college students and their parents, provide recruitment and information to students interested in the university and academic support and mentoring once they enroll.

Komen on the Go: Breast Cancer Event Expands Awareness for Students


A breast cancer awareness event by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization was held at California State University, Dominguez Hills on Nov. 3. The Komen on the Go program is a nationwide outreach effort targeted at college students and communities to provide education and involvement opportunities in the fight against the disease. A mobile learning station was on the Carson campus, with interactive video exhibits and information available to students and the local community.

Jung-Sun Park on Cross Cultural Exchange in Asia
Jung-Sun Park: The Art of Cultural Exchange

Jung-Sun Park, associate professor of Asian Pacific studies, participated in a panel discussion on the exhibit, “transPOP: Korea Vietnam Remix,” at UC Irvine’s University Art Gallery, on Nov. 2. The show, which closes on Nov. 8, is a collaboration between artists from Korea, Vietnam, and the United States that explores the interactions between the two Asian nations from historical as well as contemporary popular culture perspectives.
