	History Lesson: University Archives Recalls Prominent Visitors to CSUDH
	As the nation prepares for the historic inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States, historians at California State University, Dominguez Hills are looking back at other history makers who have visited or played a role in the life of the university.

Travis Kamiyama: New Executive Chef Joins the Stars on Hollywood Boulevard

The scene has changed a bit for Travis Kamiyama (Class of ’97, B.S. economics) in his new post as executive chef at The Kress. Being based in the historic Kress Building on Hollywood Boulevard – with its 360-views of Los Angeles – is a far cry from the Okinawan native’s first restaurant, which he opened nine years ago in a strip mall on Lomita Boulevard. However, he says that his work is still the same.

	Gus Martin: Definitive Text on Terrorism in Third Edition
	C. Augustus (Gus) Martin features the Latin proverb Docendo Discimus on his faculty biography webpage. The expression, which translated means, “By teaching, we learn,” is evocative of Martin’s approach to a hot topic. An expert on terrorism and extremism, he has taught a class on these subjects at California State University, Dominguez Hills since 2002.
