Roger Berry (1939-2009): Marketing Professor Provided Career Expertise, Mentorship, and Support to Students and Colleagues

Roger Berry, emeritus associate professor of marketing and an alumnus of California State University, Dominguez Hills, died suddenly on April 9 at age 70. Most recently, Dr. Berry served the university through the Faculty Early Retirement Program by spearheading a project to offer online undergraduate courses in marketing, after having spent ten years teaching online MBA courses in the college’s internationally recognized program.

College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences Speaker Series Features President of Shell Pipeline Company

Mark Hurley, president of Shell Pipeline Company, was the featured speaker at the fourth Distinguished Speakers Series luncheon presented by the College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences at California State University, Dominguez Hills in the Loker Student Union on April 14. Hurley’s talk, which was titled “The Energy Supply Chain,” focused on many issues currently facing Shell and the oil industry, including renewable fuels, domestic energy security, and the role of the Los Angeles Basin in the industry, particularly the company’s Carson facilty.

Towalame Austin: Alumna Works Magic in Philanthropy as President of Nonprofit

Towalame Austin (Class of ‘04, B.S., business administration/marketing), president of the Magic Johnson Foundation may be based in an office in Beverly Hills, but she remains connected to the underserved communities that the Foundation serves nationwide. As president of MJF, Austin leads the nonprofit’s commitment to the health, education and social needs of ethnically diverse urban communities. She is responsible for overseeing the operations and growth of the organization, in keeping with its three- pronged mission of HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness and education.
