CSU Dominguez Hills to Introduce Strategic Framework for the Future

After a semester’s worth of data gathering, the crafting of a five-year strategic plan for establishing California State University, Dominguez Hills as the “model urban university” is nearing completion. This summer, President Mildred García will introduce “CSU Dominguez Hills: A Framework for Our Future” in a Webcast message to the campus community, who will then be invited to continue the dialogues that have shaped the process thus far.

Student Support Services Brings CSUDH Students to Birthplace of Civil Rights Movement

Last month, Student Support Services, a federally funded TRiO program at California State University, Dominguez Hills, took students from both CSUDH and CSU Los Angeles on journey to explore the Civil Rights Movement in the state of Alabama. Covering many of the events which defined the modern Civil Rights Movement in America, the five-day expedition that also included staff and students from Cal State L.A. began in Birmingham on April 30 – the city where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was jailed for nine days and wrote “Letter
from Birmingham Jail.”

Patricia Cherin: Long Day’s “Journey” Into Poetry

As coordinator of the Humanities External Degree M.A. Program in the College of Extended and International Education
at California State University, Dominguez Hills, Patricia Cherin oversees students from all over the world, many of whom will earn their degrees without ever setting foot on the Carson campus. Over the years that she’s helped her students on their journeys to a college degree Cherin has been on her own journey to becoming a writer After a career that includes featured works in more than 100 publications and two chapter books of her own titled, “Familiarities” and “Park Quest,” her first book-length collection of poems, “Journey in Flagrante,” was published last month.
