Partnership Between CSU Dominguez Hills and Home Depot Center Presents a Look at Entertainment Industry for Students

“Music, Movies and More,” a symposium focusing on career opportunities in the music and film industry, will take place on Friday, June 26 from 12-4:30 p.m. in the Loker Student Union at California State University, Dominguez Hills. The event is being presented in collaboration with the Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation. Throughout the afternoon, three panels of award-winning professionals and recording artists will speak to Dominguez Hills students and students from high school arts programs who are interested in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry.

Emeritus Faculty Association Enhances University with Scholarships and Funding for Junior Faculty Projects

Nearly 200 members of the Emeritus Faculty Association of California State University, Dominguez Hills are serving the campus by providing financial support to current faculty through the Faculty Legacy Awards and scholarships for students. At the annual EFA luncheon and membership meeting held last month, the organization’s commitment to the university was evidenced through the presentation of the Leo F. and Margaret B. Cain Emeritus Faculty Association Scholarship and the Dr. Lois W. Chi Emeritus Faculty Association Science Scholarship. In addition, recipients of the Faculty Legacy Fund grants, which support junior faculty in their research endeavors, were announced.

California State University, Dominguez Hills hosted the weeklong workshop “Silencing Genomes” June 1-5 to bring high school, college, and university educators the latest information about RNA interference (RNAi), a revolutionary discovery with broad implications for biology and medicine that was awarded the 2006 Nobel Prize for Physiology/Medicine.

Dave Hampton Returns to CSU Dominguez Hills to Share Experiences as Grammy-Winning Audio Engineer

When Dave Hampton attended California State University, Dominguez Hills in the 1980s, the Los Angeles native, who was building missile guidance systems for Hughes Aircraft, was merely exploring his interest in music and recording. This summer, he will return to the campus to discuss his nearly 20-year career as a panelist in the upcoming “Music, Movies and More Symposium” on June 26. An audio engineer and designer of studios and touring rigs, he has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Prince, Herbie Hancock, Chicago, and Marcus Miller, whose 2001 album, “M2” won Hampton a Grammy Award.

Kirti Celly: Professor of Marketing Publishes Seminal Study on Branding the CSU System

Kirti Celly, associate professor of marketing, at California State University, Dominguez Hills, had her article, “The California State University: A Case on Branding the Largest Public University System in the U.S.” accepted for publication in an upcoming issue of the International Journal of Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Marketing. The article was co-authored by Brenda Knepper, director of Communications and Public Affairs at CSU Dominguez Hills, who spearheaded a major branding project for the 23-campus system while serving in her former position as creative director at the CSU Office of the Chancellor.
