Emeritus Faculty Association Enhances University with Scholarships and Funding for Junior Faculty Projects

Nearly 200 members of the Emeritus Faculty Association of California State University, Dominguez Hills are serving the campus by providing financial support to current faculty through the Faculty Legacy Awards and scholarships for students. At the annual EFA luncheon and membership meeting held last month, the organization’s commitment to the university was evidenced through the presentation of the Leo F. and Margaret B. Cain Emeritus Faculty Association Scholarship and the Dr. Lois W. Chi Emeritus Faculty Association Science Scholarship. In addition, recipients of the Faculty Legacy Fund grants, which support junior faculty in their research endeavors, were announced.

Kirti Celly: Professor of Marketing Publishes Seminal Study on Branding the CSU System

Kirti Celly, associate professor of marketing, at California State University, Dominguez Hills, had her article, “The California State University: A Case on Branding the Largest Public University System in the U.S.” accepted for publication in an upcoming issue of the International Journal of Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Marketing. The article was co-authored by Brenda Knepper, director of Communications and Public Affairs at CSU Dominguez Hills, who spearheaded a major branding project for the 23-campus system while serving in her former position as creative director at the CSU Office of the Chancellor.

Bill Ota (in center) assisted his father Ralph Ota in constructing the original site, which was completed on the CSU Dominguez Hills campus in 1978 with donated materials and labor from the Japanese American gardening and landscape community.

This summer's repairs include replacing and reinforcing the aging deck and repainting the teahouse structure.
