A. Marco Turk: Peace Builder Receives Lifetime Achievement Award for Work With Asian Pacific American Community

A. Marco Turk, professor and director of the Negotiation, Conflict Resolution & Peace Building program at California State University, Dominguez Hills, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center at the organization’s Conversity Reception in April.APADRC recognized Turk’s local efforts in providing undergraduate and graduate students from the NCRP program as interns for the organization. In addition, Turk has represented the university and welcomed groups of middle and high schools students to the university as sponsored by APADRC for joint outreach and recruitment activities.

Walter Wells: Author of Edward Hopper Biography is Awarded Umhoefer Prize


Walter Wells, emeritus professor of English at California State University, Dominguez Hills, has been awarded the 2009 Umhoefer Prize for Achievement in the Humanities. The award, which was announced in February, was granted by Minnesota’s Arts and Humanities Foundation, for Wells’s 2007 book, “Silent Theater: The Art of Edward Hopper.” More than 1,000 works of literature, drama, the visual and performing arts, music, history, philosophy, photography and cinema are considered for the award each year.

Raoul Freeman, professor of computer information systems at California State University, Dominguez Hills, contributed a chapter titled “Goals, Measurement and Evaluation of E-Gov Projects” to “The Handbook of Research on Strategies for Local E-Government Adoption and Implementation: Comparative Studies,” which was published earlier this year by IGI Global. The text examines the impact of e-government at the local level in countries throughout the world.

Emmit Williams: Director of Contracts and Procurement Voted Vice President of CSU Procurement Support Services Officers Association

Emmit Williams, director and contracts administrator of Procurement, Contracts, Logistical, Facilities Leasing, and Support Services at California State University, Dominguez Hills, was elected vice president of the CSU-systemwide Procurement Support Services Officers Association. The yearlong term will lead to his service as PSSOA president next year.
