Dance Performance Celebrates Features of CSU Dominguez Hills Campus

Students are typically seen eating, socializing or rushing across the campus grounds of California State University, Dominguez Hills. But senior Marco Carreon has got them dancing. On Saturday, Oct. 31, he will present “Campus Dances,” a site- specific performance that will take place not on a stage but at designated spots on the Carson campus, including the Palm Courtyard at the Loker Student Union, the Sculpture Garden, and the Alumni Courtyard.

Jerry Moore: Anthropologist Helps Bridge Information Gap Between Ecuador and Peru with Transnational Project


A $14,290 grant from the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research will enable Jerry Moore, professor of anthropology at California State University, Dominguez Hills, to bring together an unprecedented collaboration between archaeologists in Ecuador and Peru. With colleague Francisco Valdez from L’Institut de recherche pour le développement in Paris, Moore will conduct seminars and oversee visits to archaeological sites and collections during three weeks next summer. Peruvian and Ecuadorian archaeologists, along with scholars and graduate students from France and the United Kingdom will participate in the traveling workshop.

Nancy Carlson: Alumna Leads Faith-Based Hospital With a Mission

Nancy Carlson (Class of ’94, B.S., nursing; M.P.A, ’96) was inspired to enter the nursing profession after watching how medical professionals cared for her firstborn daughter, who was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. However, the chief executive officer at Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital in San Pedro found after ten years of clinical nursing experience, that she could have a larger impact on the care of patients in a leadership position.
