ASI Provides Funds for Nursing Skills Lab

Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) has provided $33,226 in technology funds to help furnish a nursing skills lab at California State University, Dominguez Hills. The lab, which will be used by students in the master’s entry-level professional nursing program will feature state-of-the-art equipment to train students who aspire to careers as clinical nurse leaders.

Leadership Class Commended by City of Carson for Tsunami Aid Efforts


Students in a Leadership Development class at California State University, Dominguez Hills were recognized by the city of Carson for their relief efforts for victims of the tsunamis and earthquakes that ravaged Samoa, American Samoa, and the Philippines in September. A plaque was awarded to the students at the Carson City Council meeting on Dec. 1.

Anabella Bastida: Alumna Works to Foster Education in Mexican Immigrant Communities


Although Anabella Bastida (Class of ’04, B.A., liberal studies; ’05, teaching credential; ’07, M.A., multicultural education) began working at Consejo de Federaciones Mexicanas en Norteamérica (COFEM) to earn some money while getting her teaching credential, the part-time job became a full-time passion when she realized that she could make a real difference working in a leadership role at the Los Angeles-based nonprofit.

From Textbook to Playlist: New Service Converts Course Materials to MP3 Files

Students at CSU Dominguez Hills now have access to an innovative resource that will allow them to use their iPods and other MP3 devices to study. A collaboration between the University Library and the Office of Information Technology provides a new service for students that converts print and digital files into an MP3 format using Kurzweil 3000 software.
