LA's Prom Closet: CSU Dominguez Hills and Nonprofit Prepare Young Women for High School's Biggest Night and For College

The 3rd annual LA’s Prom Closet was held at California State University, Dominguez Hills on March 27 in collaboration with the Women’s Resource Center, Women’s Studies Program, the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, and the Office of Student Life. The nonprofit helps make it possible for underprivileged high school students to attend their proms by providing them with new or previously worn gowns, shoes and accessories and with self- esteem workshops
to prepare them for their big night - and hopefully, for college.

Bob Urhausen (Class of ’94, B.A., communications/public relations) says that he pursued his degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills with the same zeal as a student just out of high school– except that he was in his thirties with a wife and two children and a job that kept his head in the clouds - at the Carson airfield where the “The Spirit of America” Goodyear Blimp is moored.
