Thomas Landefeld: Minority Students Aspire to End Health Disparities

Last month, professor of biology Thomas Landefeld gave presentations on “Becoming a Scientist: Considerations for the Minority Student” at the 24th Annual Association of Minority Health Professions Schools Symposium, which has hosted by Tuskegee University. The event was attended by minority high school students from schools across the nation, who participate in workshops, interact with mentors and speakers, and present research data.

Partnership Between Labor Studies, University Library, and National Experts Creates Archive of Women in the Building Trades

Last fall, Vivian Price, assistant professor and coordinator of labor studies, and Greg Williams, director of University Archives and Special Collections, received a $25,000 digital start-up grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities for their project, "New Approaches: Tradeswomen Archives Project". Their vision is to create a virtual museum administered through California State University, Dominguez Hills of photographs, documents, and other historical artifacts from women in the building trades.
