CSU Dominguez Hills, Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum Receive National Endowment for the Humanities Grant

The 2010 fall semester may have just commenced, but Dr. Laura Talamante, assistant professor of history, and Cheryl McKnight, coordinator of the Center for Service-Learning, Internships & Civic Engagement are in the beginning stages of developing a summer workshops series for teachers. The National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded CSU Dominguez Hills and the Rancho a $171,788 grant to organize and offer American culture and history workshops for K-12 teachers nationwide.

Multicultural Center Unveils Mural of Diverse American History

As part of the 50th anniversary of California State University, Dominguez Hills, the university’s Multicultural Center will unveil “Manifest Diversity,” a large-scale multimedia mural created by students under the guidance of award-winning and nationally recognized Los Angeles muralist Eliseo Art Silva (at left) on Sept. 9. The mural was created to celebrate the diversity of CSU Dominguez Hills and its surrounding areas, as well as historical social accomplishments that have contributed to a more inclusive and multicultural America.

DHTV's Distance Learning Courses to Be Broadcast Live on Santa Monica’s CityTV

DHTV, the instructional television programming at California State University, Dominguez Hills, is now being aired on CityTV, the community cable channel for the City of Santa Monica. Live programs will be shown on Forté, Channel 99, which is dedicated to lifelong learning. Each course is taught by CSU Dominguez Hills faculty and staff or experts in the various topics covered. The 13-week courses can be used to earn college credit by viewers who officially enroll at the university.
