Henry Cisneros: Former HUD Secretary Discusses Leadership Essentials for the Next Generation
Dr. Henry Cisneros, former United States Housing and Urban Development secretary and executive chairman of CityView, delivered the inaugural lecture of the Presidential Lecture Series presented by Dr. Mildred García at California State University, Dominguez Hills on Sept. 30. The former mayor of San Antonio, Tex., addressed a filled University Theatre with “The Essentials of Leadership for the 21st Century,” describing the rapidly changing national and global society that today’s college students and graduates will be entering as future leaders of technological, environmental, economic, educational, and other professions.

Daniel Terrazas: Music Student Performs with Award-Winning Latina Songstress

Daniel Terrazas, who plans to become a music educator, worked with and gold- and platinum-record winner Graciela Beltrán during a recent three-day tour in Oklahoma. The music major at California State University, Dominguez Hills works part time in the Los Angeles area playing the tuba for Mexican folk groups. One of the promoters for these groups offered Terrazas the opportunity to play for the widely popular singer, and he took the job to get a higher level of professional experience under his belt.

Drulet Bowman and Adriana Bitoun: Director of Advancement Services Supports Colleague Through Battle with Breast Cancer
In the year that Drulet Bowman has spent successfully battling breast cancer, she has received a lot of support from family, friends, and her co-workers at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Last month, however the development operations coordinator was surprised to learn of a more public declaration of support from her supervisor: Adriana Bitoun, director of advancement services, participated in last month’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Newport Beach and did the 5K fitness walk in Bowman’s honor.

"Macbeth": Retelling of Shakepeare's Masterpiece Set Amid Mexican Drug Wars

The California State University, Dominguez Hills Department of Theatre Arts and Dance presents a bi-cultural and modern re-telling of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth,” on Oct. 22, 23, 29, 30 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. in the University Theatre. This production is set in Juárez, Mexico, and explores the disastrous political and personal repercussions of the dark and dangerous world of warring drug cartels.
