Thalia Gomez says that when she began attending California State University, Dominguez Hills, she had no idea what a Ph.D. was. Today, as an anthropology major and president of Associated Students, Inc., she is working to ensure that students have access to the guidance and support she has received during her education at CSU Dominguez Hills that has empowered her to become a scholar and leader.

Students Present Research on Voter Propositions to OLLI Community
As voters across the nation prepare to cast their ballots tomorrow, they are turning to a variety of sources to do their research. Members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at California State University, Dominguez Hills were able to look to the next generation when students from Dr. Annie Wilson’s State and Local Government class presented their research last week on Propositions 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 25.

Jerry Moore: Anthropologist Establishes Consortium of Ecuadorean and Peruvian Scholars

Professor of anthropology Jerry Moore and Dr. Francisco Valdez of the Institut de Recherche Pour le Développpement laid the groundwork for a bi-national collaboration between archaeologists in Ecuador and Peru this summer for long-term projects to explore the prehistory of the border regions between the two nations.

CSU Dominguez Hills Honors Filipino-American Leaders
A reception honoring Chief Justice nominee Tani Cantil- Sakauye and former acting Lt. Gov. Mona Pasquil, the first Filipinas to serve in two of the highest offices in California government, took place on Oct. 23 in the University Library at California State University, Dominguez Hills. The event, which was sponsored by Assemblyman Warren Furutani (D-55th Dist.) was held in honor of October’s designation as Filipino History Month.

Inaugural Tri-Carson Brings Triathlete Community to CSU Dominguez Hills

The first Tri-Carson, a reverse triathlon was held on Oct. 23, on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills. The event, which was co-sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, was presented by the City of Carson, the Carson Chamber of Commerce, and CSU Dominguez Hills.
