Tammy Tumbling: SCE’s Director of Philanthropy Plants Seeds For Green Education

As the new director of philanthropy and community involvement at Southern California Edison,
Tammy Tumbling (Class of ’90, B.S., business administration; ’94, MPA) is responsible for overseeing
the company’s philanthropic interests and strategizing funding programs and priorities. Among these is
Edison’s commitment to educating a “green” workforce through its $1,000,000 Green Jobs Education Initiative,
which provides 10 community colleges throughout the state with funding to support training programs in areas
such as green building, renewable energy, energy efficiency,and alternative transportation.

Todd Smaretsky: Digital Media Arts Alumnus Can Add ‘Award-Winning’ to His Work

California State University, Dominguez Hills alumnus Todd Smaretsky (Class of ’10, B.A., digital media arts,
television option) wasn’t going to enter the 2010 CSU Media Arts Festival film, video and interactive media competition. But now he’s glad he listened to the encouraging words of his professor, Dr. George Vinovich,
coordinator of the Digital Media Arts Program. Smaretsky took home first place in the television category at
the festival’s awards ceremony held at CSU Fullerton on Saturday, Nov. 6, for his PSA, “Letting Go of Anger.” He received a monetary prize of $500 and a Rosebud Award. The DMA program also received $250.

The exhibit, which is comprised of record albums, magazines, and other materials from around the world, reflects the late rock artist's international acclaim. Osborne, a local historian, is the author of the Arcadia books, "Images of America: Lawndale" and "Postcards of America: Missions of Southern California."
