California State University, Dominguez Hills to co-host 7th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Breakfast with City of Carson
With the City of Carson, California State University, Dominguez Hills will co-host its annual Martin Luther King Unity Breakfast at the Carson Community Center in honor of the slain civil rights leader who dedicated his life to advancing the cause of social justice.
Approximately 500 guests are expected to attend the February 6 program, including CSU Dominguez Hills students, faculty, and staff, representatives from the Office of the CSU Chancellor, and city officials.
The featured speaker will be the Rev. Mark E. Whitlock II, minister and economic developer officer for the First African Methodist Episcopal (FAME) Church in Los Angeles. Whitlock serves also as executive director of FAME Assistance Corp., a nonprofit funding vehicle that provides business loans, venture capital, training and technical assistance, and legal services to minority communities.
Recipient of numerous honors including the Mayor’s Community Service Award and Lieutenant Governor's Award for Community Service, Whitlock is a frequent news commentator for the major networks.
He is married and has two sons.
The Carson Community Center is located at 801 East Carson Street. The breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. Tickets are $15.
