California State University, Dominguez Hills Presents "Antigone"

Classic Greek Drama portrays triumph over tyranny and pursuit of freedom

Carson, CA - California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) presents a classic Greek drama about freedom and tyranny. "Antigone," Sophocles' timeless story about the rights of the family against state oppression, will be performed Friday, March 1, through Sunday, March 10, 2002, in the University Theatre. Directing is.

Directed by William R. DeLuca, CSUDH professor of theatre arts (M.F.A., Directing, Yale School of Drama), and newly translated by Irish playwright Declan Donnellan, the play presents the universal conflict of man's law versus divine law. Presented by the CSUDH Department of Theatre Arts, this poetic and classic play explores the determination of a courageous woman who is willing to face all odds to protect her brother's destiny.

Performance dates and times are March 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9 at 8 p.m. and March 3 and 10 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $10.00 for general admission, and $8.00 for students and seniors. Special group rates are also available. Please call (310) 243-3589 or (310) 243-3588 for information.

The CSUDH Department of Theatre Arts is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) and participates regularly in the American College Theatre Festival.
