State University, Dominguez Hills Assures Students
Cal Grant/Financial Aid Will Continue Despite State Budget Impasse
Carson, CA - California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) officials are easing concerns of students and parents expecting to receive disbursements of financial aid beginning Monday (Aug. 26), the first day of the fall semester, by reassuring them that the state budget impasse in Sacramento will not affect their enrollment.
University officials are informing students and parents that Cal State Dominguez Hills is prepared to issue all financial aid disbursements as the campus has ample resources on hand.
"The delay in passage of a state budget will not affect the amount of financial aid that CSU Dominguez Hills students will receive or when they will receive it," said Brian Dahm, director of accounting services for the university. "The campus has been able to comply with directives from the Chancellor's Office to ensure that the CSU's neediest students receive sufficient funds to continue their enrollment. The measures implemented by the campus allow students who qualify for financial aid to receive the money that they were promised in their financial aid award letters."
Dahm said, "No student who has received such an award will be forced to pay for registration fees that would normally be paid from their state financial aid grant." CSUDH President, James E. Lyons, Sr., similarly clarified the financial aid status for concerned parents and students. "These fees, he said, "will be paid from grant funds received from the state as soon as the budget is passed. In the meantime, Cal State Dominguez Hills students can focus their attention on purchasing their books, attending their fall 2002 classes, and enjoying the experience of being a (CSUDH) Toro."
